CARRY and SHARE your FILES ON-THE-GO with DROPBOX

->Going out on work... forgot to bring an important document... document stored on home PC... what to do??

->On a date with Girlfriend... want her to listen to your new band song... left song file on home    PC... what to do??

->Hanging out with friends... want to show them your holiday photos... left photos on Laptop... what to do??

How many times have you experienced such situation? what do you do then? Run back to get the files from your PCs and laptops??

Certainly not! All you need is a Dropbox !!

Yes you read it right! Just a Dropbox.... to drop your data into it and access, share and update anywhere and anytime you want!

How? Read on and you will learn one of the most amazing ways to make your data omnipresent

Dropbox

Dropbox is a free cloud storage service that lets you bring all your photos, docs, and videos together in one folder, and you can access, share and modify them anytime and anywhere, ll you have to do is to drop your valuable data into the Dropbox. 

Now where to get a Dropbox? How to drop data into Dropbox? And how to access data on the go from Dropbox?


The following steps will answer all these questions:



Step 1 - Download and Install Dropbox

You have to download the Dropbox installer file and Install it on your PC, Mac, Linux or your Mobile.

Dropbox supports Android, iPhone, iPad, Blackberry as well as your Amazon Kindle.

Download Dropbox here : DROPBOX

Now go ahead with the installation on your device.

-> During installation You will be asked to Create Your Dropbox account :

-> Next you will be asked to browse a location in your hard drive where your Dropbox folder will be stored

Once done you can view your Dropbox Folder in that location :

Step 2 - Drag or Add Files files to your Dropbox Folder

Now open your Dropbox folder and drag (or just copy paste) any file into the folder :

You can create separate folders for your Movies, Softwares, Music and Documents inside the Dropbox Folder. To copy files faster into Dropbox refer to Files faster to Dropbox

Now Dropbox will upload the file(s) added into the Dropbox Folder. But why upload? and to where?
  

The following step will answer the above questions:

Step 3 - Access your data at Dropbox.com

Visit  www.dropbox.com and Sign in with the E-mail and Password of your Dropbox account (created during installation) and guess what.... You will all your folders and data( saved in the Dropbox Folder) on the Dropbox site! :

 So how did this happen? is it magic? Yes! the magic of Dropbox. Now all your data is also on the Dropbox website. What's More? Right click on any file(or folder) and you will have the following options :

• Share a Folder Invite your friends, family and teammates to a folder in your Dropbox. It’ll be as if you saved that folder straight to their computers.

• View Previous Versions View a record of changes made to a file. You can choose to go back to an earlier version of a file if you’d like.

• Browse on Dropbox Website,  View a file on the Dropbox website.

• Get Link Make a link to any file or folder in your Dropbox. You can then send this link to anyone you’d like to view (or even download) the file — even if they don’t have Dropbox.

All the above options are also available on your device when you right click in the files or folders in the Dropbox Folder. What's more exciting is that 

any change you make to a file stored in your 

Dropbox folder will also automatically save to all your computers, phones, and even the Dropbox 

website !

So I hope you are all clear with the Dropbox concept, if not take this situation for example :

" You have got a presentation at the office but you forgot the PPT sildes on your PC. Now all you have to do is to Sign in to your Dropbox account on the Dropbox website (through office PC or your mobile) and access your files and download the slides from them. Alternatively if you have installed Dropbox on your tablet or your mobile( with the same account) you can just go to your Dropbox folder in your device and access the slides "




Dropbox Icons 
You can see the following icons in your Dropbox files and Folders :

Green circle and check : All the files in your Dropbox are up to date.

Blue circle and arrows : Files in your Dropbox are currently being updated/uploaded.


So Dropbox brings a whole new level of portability to your data and files, never e-mail a document or file now, access and share them with anyone, anywhere and anytime through your Dropbox!
