Did you vote for the new Facebook Privacy Policy changes ? I guess No! Well neither did I! As a result Facebook has forced more Privacy changes on Us. Some pleasant, some not so pleasant. Facebook has started to roll out those changes since Wednesday, 12/12/12.
Let's have a look at all those changes -
1. You are Universally Searchable on Facebook -
Remember that setting in Privacy Settings where you could decide who can search you?
Well it's time to forget it because it's no longer available. Everyone can search everyone on Facebook! Bad news for those who wanted to keep their Social activity invisible or limited only to selected people. In short you can't hide anymore!
2. New Privacy Icon
A new Privacy icon will be added to the upper right, allowing quick access to some frequently-used privacy controls :
These Privacy Shortcuts will make controlling privacy bit simpler and easier. this is one welcome change as it will reduce the complexity of those clumsy Settings.
What's more -
- More control in your Activity Log.
- Easier to request pictures of you to be removed.
- Apps must now ask separately for the permission to use your private information and to post to your Timeline. Previously these two permissions were merged together.
3. You can't vote for changes Anymore
We had the ability to vote and reject the changes, but (sadly) almost no one did. And along with that came the new rule that users would no longer have the ability to vote on changes like these in future.
So to summarise the changes -
-> You are no more unsearchable on Facebook
-> You have a new Privacy Shortcut along with new Activity Controls.
-> You lost your ability to Vote for changes (though you never voted).
These changes were always on the cards following the constant criticism of the facebook controls by users for being too complex. Actually while some regular users know how to control their stuff on Facebook, the mainstream common users are still unaware of the basic Privacy controls.
