If you're a Blogger like me I'm sure you're not a great Fan of the default Search Gadget by Blogger. The gadget is actually unattractive and has limited capabilities, as you might be knowing a search box plays a vital role in increasing pageviews, especially if you've a large Blog or website. So what you actually need is a Google Custom Search Engine for your Blog or Website. The Google Custom Search engine comes with a variety of designs and is an extremely efficient tool to increase visitors, what's more is the integration of Google Adsense through the Search Engine. So let's get started and get you your own Google Custom Search Engine -
1. Go To Google CSE
2. Click on Create Custom Search Engine3. Now fill up the form as shown in the screenshot below and click Create
4. You will be redirected to the page shown in the screenshot below -
-> If you want to use the basic version of the Custom Search then copy the code shown on the page and paste wherever you want to show search results on your website.
-> If you want change the appearance and features of your search engine then click on Edit to visit your search engine's Control Panel.
5. Your Control Panel will look like the screenshot below -
Enter your search engine keywords and description and Save Changes.
Now Click on Look and Feel to change the appearance of your search engine.
6. Choose a Layout & Style for your Search Engine, you can also customize a selected style. Check the preview the of the search gadget at the bottom of the page. Once you're done with customization, click on Save & Get Code.
If you want to use your search gadget in your Blog then choose the Compact or Two Column Layout with any desired style.
7. Adding Search Gadget to Website/Blog -
-> To add the search gadget to your Website copy the code (obtained in Step 6) and paste it inside the "<body>" of your source code ( or wherever you want to show search results).
-> To add the search gadget to your Blog -
* Go to Layout, Click on Add a Gadget.
* Select HTML/Javascript gadget.
* Paste the code (obtained in Step 6) and click Save and it's done!
Adding the Google Custom Search Engine will play a vital role in improving page views and total visitors. You can view the difference in your Google Analytics data itself. So what are you waiting for? It's time to create your own Google Custom Search engine.
